Call for Papers and Participation to
the 4th AsiaEngage Regional Conference (AE) 2018

   Chiang Mai University, Thailand, in collaboration with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (The National University of Malaysia), will host the 4th AsiaEngage Regional Conference (AE) 2018 on 26 - 28 November 2018 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Themed “Rising to the Challenges of the SDGs in Asia through University Engagement”, the conference aims to bring all stakeholders on board the road to the SDGs and facilitate conversations, mutual learning, and partnerships between different sectors in addressing the challenges.

   The United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which came into effect on 1 January 2016, is notably one of the most ambitious and important global agreements in recent history that aims to set the world on a path towards a better future for all by 2030. As universities continue to strengthen their role as agents of change that are responsive to the needs of the society, universities can and should leverage on its unique position in society to champion the implementation of SDGs in Asia and at global scale. The 4th AsiaEngage Regional Conference 2018: Rising to the Challenges of the SDGs in Asia through University Engagement will highlight how universities can work with governments, industries and businesses, civil societies, communities, and international organisations to collectively respond to the challenges of SDGs and accelerate action.

Call for abstracts

Abstract submission deadline by 31 July 2018
Notification of acceptance of abstracts by 8 August 2018

Eligibility Criteria

Abstract submitted should be based on original research and in English.
Once an abstract is selected for poster presentation, at least one of the authors of the poster MUST register for the conference. Payment for conference registration should reach the Conference secretariat by 31 August 2018 (early bird) and 30 September 2018 (normal conference fee rate).
Participants may submit MORE THAN ONE abstract.
The final selection of abstracts will be reviewed and decided by the AERC Scientific Committee and Abstracts against the following criteria: conference subthemes, relevance to the field of engagement, prospects for new insights and debate.

Abstract Format

Abstract should not exceed 1 A4 page, as per attachment. Document should be saved in .doc or .docx format. Do not have images inside the abstract. Only abstract that conform to the given guidelines will be accepted.
All abbreviations must be spelled out on first use.
Abstract must not be more than 300 words inclusive of title.
Presenting authors’ name must be underlined.
Title of the abstract must be in bold capital letters at the top of the abstract.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

All abstracts must be submitted online only. Hardcopy submissions will not be accepted.
Your abstracts will appear in print as submitted. Please ensure you check your data carefully before submitting as changes or additions will not be accepted after the submission deadline for abstracts.
Please ensure that you have entered a valid email address in order to receive a confirmation email confirming receipt of your submission.
Abstracts must be submitted by 29 June 2018. Late submissions or incomplete abstracts will not be accepted.
Upon submission, within 72 hours, abstracts applicants will receive a notification of receipt from the Conference Secretariat by email. If you do not receive any acknowledgement reply, please contact asiaengage2018@gmail.com
The Conference Secretariat will notify participants regarding the results of their submission by 8 August 2018.

Abstract should include:

Description of problem
Description of the engaged initiative/projects and its uniqueness
Challenges and good practices in establishing partnerships with stakeholders
Benefits/impact of the initiatives to the community/stakeholders
Summary of the measurable outcomes/findings/results of the initiative

Poster Display and presentation

Poster presentation must be in the following format: -Printed in AO size -Poster Orientation: Vertical

Abstract Review & Awards

All abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee. The Committee reserves the right to: -Select the abstracts relevant to the session -Decide on the final form of presentation

There will be awards for the best posters and best presentations. Certificates will be given to the winners.

Successful poster presenters will be notified by the Conference Secretariat and informed of the judging process, time to put up the posters during the conference and all relevant details.
